We are excited to introduce Countdown2K, a special kindergarten readiness program that will help prepare your child for this important milestone! Over the next 50 days, your child will participate in fun, engaging activities designed to build the skills they need to succeed in kindergarten.
What is Countdown2K?
Countdown2K is a research-based program that focuses on four key areas of development:
- Literacy & Language – Letters, sounds, vocabulary, and listening skills
- Math & Numeracy – Numbers, counting, shapes, and patterns
- Social-Emotional Skills – Making friends, managing emotions, following rules
- Motor Skills – Writing readiness, cutting, self-help skills
How Can You Help at Home?
- Ask your child about the daily Countdown2K activity
- Practice skills together using the take-home activities
- Read together every day for at least 15 minutes
- Celebrate your child's progress and effort!

Template 3: Daily Learning Tips for Families
Literacy at Home
- ✓ Read together for 15-20 minutes daily
- ✓ Point out letters on signs and packages
- ✓ Play rhyming games in the car
- ✓ Let your child "write" grocery lists
- ✓ Sing the alphabet song together
- ✓ Ask questions about stories you read
Math at Home
- ✓ Count everything: stairs, toys, snacks
- ✓ Look for shapes around the house
- ✓ Sort laundry by color or size
- ✓ Set the table (one plate per person)
- ✓ Cook together and measure ingredients
- ✓ Play board games with dice
Social-Emotional at Home
- ✓ Name and discuss feelings
- ✓ Practice taking turns in games
- ✓ Role-play making new friends
- ✓ Teach deep breathing for calm-down
- ✓ Give specific praise for effort
- ✓ Set up playdates with peers
Motor Skills at Home
