OmniWheel Installation Guide
Step-by-step tool-free installation in under 5 minutes
A clear, step-by-step guide to installing OmniWheel wheels on your walker using the tool-free Bell and Cup system. Includes a compatibility checklist, setup verification steps, and troubleshooting tips.
Before You Begin: Compatibility Checklist
- Confirm your walker has 1-inch or 1.125-inch diameter leg tubing
- Verify your walker is a standard folding walker (not a rollator)
- Remove existing wheel assemblies or rubber tips from front legs
- Place walker on a flat, stable surface with the legs facing up
Step-by-Step Installation
- Step 1: Slide the Cup adapter onto the walker leg until it seats firmly against the leg collar
- Step 2: Tighten the Cup set screw finger-tight using the included thumbscrew — no tools needed
- Step 3: Align the Bell on the OmniWheel with the Cup and press until you hear a click
- Step 4: Gently tug the wheel to confirm it is locked in place
- Step 5: Repeat for the second wheel and flip the walker upright
Verifying Correct Installation
After installing both wheels, place the walker upright on a flat floor. Push the walker forward, backward, and side-to-side. The wheels should roll freely in all directions without wobble or grinding. Confirm that each wheel clicks smoothly through its roller stages when moved laterally. If the walker pulls to one side, check that both Cups are seated at the same height on each leg.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
- Wheel does not click into Cup: Ensure the Cup set screw is tight and the Bell is aligned straight before pressing
- Walker feels uneven: Confirm both Cups are seated at equal heights on each leg
- Wheel wobbles during use: Remove and reseat the Bell; check the Cup for debris
- Difficulty removing wheel: Twist the wheel 15 degrees, then pull straight down
Maintenance Tips
The OmniWheel system requires minimal maintenance. Wipe the rollers with a damp cloth monthly to remove dust and hair. Inspect the Bell and Cup connection quarterly for wear. The sealed bearings are lubricated for the life of the product and do not require greasing.
